BANGKOK, Thailand – Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo met with Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Phumtham Wechayachai during her official travel to Thailand. Secretary Raimondo raised trade and investment priorities related to the digital economy, clean energy and sustainability, semiconductors, and more. She thanked Minister Phumtham for Thailand’s continued support on implementation of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF), which will help strengthen the U.S.-Thailand bilateral and regional economic relationships through the long-term economic cooperation envisioned under the Framework. Secretary Raimondo highlighted her role in leading members of the President’s Export Council (PEC) to Bangkok to explore potential opportunities to deepen the U.S.-Thailand economic partnership. Secretary Raimondo and Minister Phumtham later met with PEC members to exchange ideas on strengthening trade and investment ties across manufacturing, supply chain resiliency, artificial intelligence, and clean technology.
