Today, Deputy Secretary of Commerce Don Graves and Assistant Secretary for Industry and Analysis Grant Harris met with Trade Minister Jean Lucien Bussa Tongba of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) at the U.S.-Africa Business Forum. The leaders discussed the DRC’s engagement with the United States on agro-processing, logistics, critical minerals, and mining reforms, and how the mining sector could benefit from opportunities facilitated by the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment. They also discussed recent developments and successes in DRC’s economy, as well as the potential for increased private sector engagement, especially in the digital sector.
