Today, Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo welcomed First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yuliia Svyrydenko to Washington D.C. During their meeting, Secretary Raimondo expressed the U.S. government’s continued strong support for Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression, and First Deputy Prime Minister Svyrydenko briefed Raimondo on Russia’s recent attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and Ukraine’s efforts to promote economic recovery. The two discussed ways in which the Commerce Department can work with other U.S. government agencies and the U.S. private sector to help Ukraine reconstruct its civilian infrastructure, including a U.S.-Ukraine infrastructure task force being formed by the Department of Commerce, Department of Transportation, and Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure. The Secretary also added that the Commerce Department will continue to work with Ukraine to counter Russia’s aggression.
