In January 2019, Father Nowicki resigned from his post following serious allegations of sexual misconduct with a vulnerable adult. Later that same year, he was arrested in a sting operation by the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office and Sault St. Marie Police for intending to meet a 15-year-old boy he had been chatting with online. Father Nowicki had been serving as an Associate Pastor of St. Peter Cathedral in Marquette and at St. Mary Mission in Big Bay until his resignation in 2019.
